SUMMARY:Bank Holiday Day in Lieu of Queen's Diamond Jubilee
DESCRIPTION:The Westminster government has announced an additional nationwide Bank Holiday on Friday 3rd June 2022 to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Given that this additional date falls within the already agreed summer half-term break\, there is a need to adjust the agreed term dates for next year to enable school staff and learners to also benefit from this extra bank holiday. The Welsh Government Minister has allowed schools to close for an additional day over the course of the 2021/22 academic year in lieu of this extra bank holiday. Schools in Newport are able to decide this additional closure date individually. We have taken the decision to allocate this day on Friday 22nd July – the last day before the summer holiday. School will be closed to pupils on this date.
