Year 5 School of Rock begins!

Year 5 pupils have an exciting half-term ahead! They are beginning the School of Rock! They have been working with the teachers to plan many exciting activities and events and they’ll particularly be developing their Expressive Arts as they form their own bands! They will learn to play instruments, compose songs and perform their hits, as well as seeing ‘School of Rock’ the musical in London’s Westend.
To kick off their exciting new theme, they had a live band visit this afternoon to perform to them! Five musicians from the Gwent Music Service band came in to perform some classic hits and inspire the children. They answered questions about their instruments and had the children singing along. Whilst it’s Year 5’s theme, we invited all of Key Stage 2 to join in the fun half-way through the afternoon. Everyone enjoyed listening to the songs, singing along and dancing. As pupils left the hall at the end of the afternoon, they made so many comments about how much they enjoyed seeing the musicians perform and how inspired they were.

We’re looking forward to hearing the children in Year 5 perform, just before Christmas!

You can watch a few of the highlights from the gig here!
