Hello! We are the Department of Technology in our school, and we want to tell you about something exciting and important, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how to stay safe online.
🌟 What is AI?
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. It means technology that can think and help us, a bit like a robot brain!
You might already use AI without knowing it. For example:
- Voice assistants that answer questions
- Games that learn how you play
- Apps that help you write or draw
We think AI is really useful because it can help us learn new things and be creative.
🔐 Staying Safe Online – The SMART Rules
To help us stay safe online, we use the SMART rules:
S – Safe
Keep your personal information private. Never share your name, address, school, or passwords.
M – Meet
Never meet someone you only know online. Always tell a trusted adult.
A – Accepting
Be careful what you click on or download. Some links are not safe.
R – Reliable
Not everything online is true. Always check your information.
T – Tell
If something worries you, tell a trusted adult straight away.
🌍 Safer Internet Day at Our School
For Safer Internet Day, we led a whole-school assembly all about AI, robot helpers, and staying safe online. Every year group took part in a different activity to learn more about technology and online safety. For example, Year 1 explored how we can talk to technology, Year 4 explored Fake News and Deep Fakes and Year 6 wrote a balanced argument about AI.
💡 Our Thoughts
We really enjoyed leading the assembly and helping everyone learn about staying safe online. It was great to see every class learning something different.
We think AI is amazing, but it is important to use it safely and responsibly.
