What a fantastic term we’ve had in Reception, all centred around our exciting theme ‘All Creatures Great and Small’! The children have loved exploring the world of animals, especially through our class story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ by Julia Donaldson. Using our growing phonics skills, we even had a go at rewriting parts of the story ourselves! From farm animals to pets, the classroom has been full of creature-themed fun and learning.
A real highlight this term was meeting some very special animal visitors. Bletchley the Guide Dog and his owner Ray came in to tell us all about the important job Bletchley does in keeping Ray safe. The children asked brilliant questions and were so gentle and curious. We also met Ruby the tortoise and found out how to care for her, what she likes to eat, and how she hibernates. We learned so many interesting facts!
To finish off our term, we had an incredible Sports Day full of energy and team spirit. We were so proud of all our Reception children who zoomed and raced like true champions. What a speedy bunch! We have also really enjoyed the fantastic balance bike sessions in the school hall.
We can hardly believe the final term of Reception is just around the corner. We’re excited to see what new adventures await us as we get ready for our last few weeks together!
