Vision Song

Learning Together, Hand in Hand

When any organisation has a clear vision for what it wants to achieve, it is important that everyone is travelling on that journey together. In a school community, that means governors, staff, pupils and parents all understanding what we are working towards and why it matters.

At St Julian’s Primary School, our motto is “Learning together, hand in hand.” This simple phrase captures so much about who we are. It reflects our strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, but also the care we show for one another and for our wider community.

Under this motto sit the four key elements of our vision:

  • Learning to Know
  • Learning to Do
  • Learning to Be
  • Learning to Live Together

These four pillars help guide everything we do in school — from the way we design learning experiences to the way we support children to grow as confident, capable and caring individuals.

To bring this vision to life in a creative way, Mr Mansfield worked with a group of pupils to write a school vision song. Together, they began by creating a chorus that repeats throughout the song, before writing a verse for each of our four vision headings and what they mean for the children in our school.

It took us a while to come up with all the rhyming words and to make the words in the verses meaningful but we were really happy with the result! Children across the school have loved learning and singing the song this week, and the pupils involved have even created a backing track which we have been using during assembly.

It has been wonderful to see our vision expressed through music, and even more special to see the pride the children feel in something they helped to create. It is a great reminder that when we truly learn together, hand in hand, everyone has a role to play in shaping the journey.
