What an incredible Summer B term it has been for our fantastic Year 3s! Our exciting theme ‘Trapped in a Rainforest,’ inspired many of the activities and learning experiences throughout the weeks. From exploring nature to creative performances, year 3 have been busy, curious, and full of enthusiasm. Here’s a look back at some of the wonderful moments we shared.
Trip to Plantasia
We kicked off the term with an unforgettable visit to Plantasia, a tropical greenhouse filled with exotic plants and animals. The children wandered through amazing environments that recreated the rainforest atmosphere, spotting vibrant flowers, towering palms, and even some tropical fish. They took part in an interactive workshop where they held numerous animals from the rainforest including geckos, millipedes and snakes! It was an inspiring, hands-on experience that really brought our theme, ‘Trapped in a Rainforest,’ to life.

Sports Day
Our sporty superstars showcased their skills and team spirit at Sports Day! The children took part in a variety of races and challenges — from sprints and javelin to relay runs and long jumps. There was a fantastic atmosphere full of cheering and encouragement as everyone gave their best efforts. It was wonderful to see how the children supported each other, demonstrating resilience, determination, and teamwork.
Creative Festival – Musicals Theme
Our creative talents shone brightly during the Creative Festival, where the theme was all about musicals. The children sang, danced, and performed with great energy, showcasing their confidence and joy in the arts.

Talent Show
The Year 3 Talent Show was a brilliant highlight of the term. From singing and dancing to magic tricks and storytelling, our superstars impressed us all with their unique talents and creativity.
World Rainforest Day Online Lesson
To celebrate World Rainforest Day, the children took part in an engaging online lesson linked to our theme, ‘Trapped in a Rainforest.’ They learned about the importance of rainforests, the challenges facing these vital ecosystems, and how we can all help protect them.
Rainforest Documentaries & Green Screen Fun
Inspired by the legendary David Attenborough, the children worked in groups to write and film their own rainforest documentaries. Using green screen technology, they transported themselves to the heart of the jungle, narrating stories about plants, animals, and the environment. This creative project helped develop their research skills, teamwork, and confidence in speaking. Plus, it was a lot of fun seeing their finished films!
Rainforest Café & Banana Bread
To round off our rainforest topic, we hosted a Rainforest Café where the children gathered rainforest ingredients and baked delicious banana bread. It was a proud moment as they showcased their cooking skills and hard work to parents and celebrated the end of a successful term together.
Colour Run
We ended a lively term with the vibrant Colour Run, where everyone got drenched in bright colors while enjoying the fresh air and exercise. It was a fantastic way to celebrate teamwork and resilience.
A Fantastic End to Year 3
This last term in Year 3 has been packed with learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories. The children have worked incredibly hard, grown in confidence, and shown such curiosity and kindness. We are so proud of everything they have achieved and can’t wait to see them continue to shine in Year 4. Here’s to a well-deserved summer break — and an exciting new chapter ahead!
