Today, our brilliant Year 5 pupils showcased their creativity, teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit at our much-anticipated Eco Festival! As part of their topic on sustainability and enterprise, the children worked in groups to set up their very own eco-friendly businesses.
Each group came up with a unique product or service designed to be environmentally friendly – and if edible, as healthy as possible. From handmade beeswax wraps and upcycled crafts, to healthy snacks and plant-based treats, the stalls were full of exciting, sustainable ideas!
The journey to the festival was just as important as the event itself. The children planned and prepared their businesses from scratch – writing business plans, designing eye-catching logos, creating persuasive adverts and even presenting their ideas in a Dragon’s Den-style pitch to request an investment to get their company off the ground.
Today, children from across the school brought along their pocket money to visit the stalls. They were delighted to browse, ask questions and choose which eco-products to buy. The atmosphere was full of energy and enthusiasm, and Year 5 were fantastic ambassadors, confidently explaining their ideas and proudly selling their products.
One group sold out of all their products pretty quickly, so hilariously (and brilliantly!) they used their profits to buy other group’s products and started selling them at a marked up price!! Genius!
We are incredibly proud of all the hard work, imagination and environmental awareness shown by Year 5. Not only did they learn valuable lessons about running a business, but they also helped to spread the message that being eco-friendly can be creative, fun and inspiring!
