Year 6 Summer B Update

Year 6’s final half-term has been jam-packed with exciting activities and events! Their final theme ‘When I Grow Up’ encouraged the children to think about their future, potential career paths they may wish to take and prepare them for their next exciting adventure, transition to comprehensive school. As part of this theme we held our very own careers day for Year 6. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the various occupations and skills required to work within each industry. We had a variety of visitors such as the Fire and Police service, Tesco, Coleg Gwent, The NHS (Midwifery unit), a plumber and a professional football player. We’d like to thank all of our visitors for giving up their time to come into school and talk to our children.
As part of this theme the children were required to present a presentation to their peers on a career of their choice, outlining why they are interested in this occupation and what is involved within this role. Across Year 6, we were very impressed with the standard of presentations and surprised with the variety of job interests.

The School Concert, ‘Aladdin’ was a huge success, as was this year’s residential visit to Tregoyd House in Brecon. We were so pleased to be able to return to live performances and Years 5 and 6 certainly didn’t disappoint. Well done everyone! Both of these events allow pupils to challenge themselves in different ways, whether it be singing with the choir, performing on stage or tackling a high ropes course; the sense of achievement felt through these experiences builds confidence and self-esteem, which we work hard to develop and encourage in all of our pupils at St. Julian’s Primary School. It has been wonderful to see all the children in Year 6 blossom during the year, they are a very special year group and one that will certainly be remembered.

Finally, we would like to thank all parents who attended the graduation ceremony during the last week of term. The children looked so grown up in their caps and gowns. We wish them all the best as they move into Year 7. Goodbye and pob lwc Year 6! You will be missed!
