Football Team Update

Over the last few weeks, our school football team have been rather busy, taking part in matches with other schools. The children looked fantastic in their kits and it was great to see such large crowds gather for each game; the children really enjoyed all of the support that was given.

Rogerstone Primary 5 – St Julians Primary 3
20.5.15 – Rogerstone arrived with a strong team of 12 players. At 4.00pm, the whistle blew and the game began. What an exciting game it was – end to end football, goals galore, scrambles in the goalmouth, crossbars rattling – this game had it all! Unfortunately we just lost out but the victory could have gone to either team.

Alway Primary 5 – St Julians Primary 4

21.5.15 – Another home fixture welcomed Alway Primary School to St Julians. After analysing our match the day before, the boys and girls came out more determined than ever to seal a victory. Another nail biting end to end game saw us narrowly beaten. If only the game was a bit longer I think we could have sealed a victory. A tremendous team effort – the children all made the school very proud with their attitude and commitment.

St Julians Primary 2 – Glan Usk 2

St Julians Primary 11 – Glan Usk Primary 1

4.6.15 – What a tremendous match – our team were rewarded with a victory during our away matches at Glan Usk. The first game saw St Julian’s take an early lead with a fantastic goal from Sonny. This was closely followed by a second goal which saw Ben whip in a precise diagonal pass towards Morgan, who headed it into the net past the keeper. A frustrating second half for the team saw Glan Usk score 2 goals to equalise for a final score of 2-2.

After a quick break, reflecting on the first game, the children went into their second game confident that they could seal a victory. Spectators of this game were in for a real treat – it was hard to think of what more the team could have done. A real sense of team work and support was evident throughout, leading the team to an 11-1 victory, with Morgan scoring a hat trick.

There has been lots of excellent football and we look forward to our future games.
