Y5&6 Sports Day 2014

Well what an amazing afternoon! With all the great weather we’ve been having, we quickly decided to squeeze our Year 5&6 Sports Day into this week! The sun was shining, the field filled with parents and the children were full of excitement; the perfect recipe for a successful Sports Day! Mr Rees welcomed every one, at 1:15, and then we immediately launched into our first race! Every year, the four houses (Hafren, Llwyd, Wysg and Ebbw) battle it out for the coveted St. Julian’s House Trophy! There was skipping, sprinting, relay racing, shotput throwing, javlin throwing, long jumping and lots of running! Pupils who won, got to stand on the podium to have their photograph taken (See Flickr Photo Stream).  We were also lucky enough to have a visit from Kris Burton, a rugby player from the Gwent Dragons, who helped to decide 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, for each race. This year, Hafren managed to win and ran their victory lap around the track, holding their trophy.

Final Scores: Wysg: 210, Hafren: 275, Ebbw: 240, Llwyd: 226

We had a fantastic afternoon and all the children enjoyed themselves; we’re so proud of them all! We’re also really grateful to our staff, particularly Mrs Cooke, for organising the afternoon.
