Year 1 Autumn A Update

This term, Year One has been exploring the big question: “Where do we belong?” We have been thinking about the people, places, and experiences that help shape our community, and what makes our local area so special.

To bring our learning to life, we went on a wonderful trip to Caerleon Road. The children were full of excitement as we set off to explore the local community right on our doorstep. One of the highlights of our adventure was visiting some of the amazing local businesses that help make our area unique. We loved stopping at Alonzi’s, Wren’s, the Spar and Martin Davies Chemist. The children were fascinated to see how each place helps and supports the people who live nearby. We are very grateful to these businesses for giving us such a warm welcome!

Back in the classroom, the children have continued to show fantastic enthusiasm for their learning. We have already settled beautifully into our new year group and are becoming confident, curious learners. One of our favourite activities so far has been writing letters to post to ourselves. The children loved telling us when they arrived at home and were so excited to see who they had a picture from! We also learned all about the journey of a letter, tracing its path from post box to destination, a brilliant link to our local area learning.

It has been a wonderful start to the year, and we are incredibly proud of how well the children have settled, explored, and engaged with our new topic. We can’t wait to see where our learning takes us next!
