This term, Year 5’s theme has been ‘Cracking Ideas’. Pupils have been putting their entrepreneurial skills to the test to come up with their own business ideas and products. From a Dessert Bar, to ‘Splat the Pupil’, to selling ice-cream. Their money making ideas have been very creative.
Each pupil has invested £2.00 into their business but today, our business savvy students had the opportunity to impress a panel of ‘Dragons’, very much like the popular BBC show!
Our Dragons came from Global Finance firm, GMAC Financial, and they were keen to invest their own money in exchange for equity of our pupils’ businesses. Each group pitched their proposals in the hope of an investment and negotiated with the Dragons to sell a percentage of their business, in order to buy more supplies to gain further profit.
Each group were put through intense questioning about their business ventures and plans.  All of the children presented very well and spoke with confidence. Luckily, the Dragons weren’t ‘out’ and each group secured an investment. Watch out Richard Branson, budding entrepreneurs about!
