Year 1 – Autumn A Update

We have had a fantastic half term in Year One and have loved learning through our theme ‘Truly Scrumptious!’ Throughout the half term we have been learning lots about where foods come from and we have been following instructions to make some delicious foods!!!

In our Language, Literacy and Communication lessons we have enjoyed learning to retell the stories ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’

In our Expressive Arts lessons we have looked at the artist Giuseppe Acrimboldo. We made self portraits using fruits and vegetables.

We have loved our Forest School lessons and exploring all things Autumn! We enjoyed using natural objects to create self portraits and we loved using mud to make tiger pictures!

During October’s Black History Month we learned about Betty Campbell who was Wales’ first black headteacher. We then had the opportunity to share our aspirations for the future and discussed jobs that we would like to have when we are older!

We have had a brilliant first half term in Year One and are looking forward to carrying on with our ‘Truly Scrumptious’ theme next half term! We think the Evil Pea may be back in St Julian’s Primary School….
