Year 1 Summer B Update

What a breathtaking, action-packed end to the school year we have had in Year 1! Summer B has absolutely flown by, packed with outdoor adventures, creative triumphs, and plenty of sunshine.

We are incredibly proud of how hard the children have worked and how beautifully they have participated in all of our end-of-term events. Here is a look back at the brilliant highlights of our final weeks together.

Staying Active on Healthy Living Day

We kicked off our healthy focus with a dedicated Healthy Living Day! The children jumped headfirst into a range of exciting, active workshops and educational sessions. From learning about nutritious foods to understanding how our bodies work, Year 1 practiced different ways to keep their minds and bodies fit, healthy, and happy.

Sunny Smiles at Barry Island

One of our absolute favourite highlights of the term was our unforgettable school trip to Barry Island. The weather was on our side, and the coast was calling!

The children had the most wonderful time:

  • Building masterpieces: Spades at the ready, they crafted some spectacular, towering sandcastles.
  • Taking to the skies: We had a brilliant breeze for flying colorful kites high in the air.
  • Strolling the seafront: We enjoyed a lovely walk along the promenade, soaking in the seaside atmosphere.

It was a joy to see so many smiling faces and hear the laughter echoing across the beach.

Team Spirit at Sports Day

Our long-awaited Sports Day finally arrived, and it was certainly worth the wait! Under the beautiful summer sun, the children showed off their fantastic athleticism, determination, and teamwork. Every single child participated with amazing energy, cheering on their classmates and demonstrating wonderful sportsmanship. Thank you to all the families who came along to support and cheer us on!

Rock Pools and Wildlife with Beach Academy Wales

We were thrilled to welcome the fantastic team from Beach Academy Wales to our school. They brought the wonders of the Welsh coastline directly to us!

The children became mini-marine biologists for the day, learning all about the fascinating world of rock pools. They discovered how to responsibly care for and protect the delicate sea creatures that call these habitats home. It was a wonderful hands-on lesson in conservation and caring for our local environment.

A Grand Finale: The Creative Festival!

To wrap up our sensational term, we held our annual Creative Festival. Each Year 1 class took to the stage to perform, and they were absolutely incredible!

From practicing their dances to performing with confidence, the children blew us away with their creativity and stage presence. It was the perfect, celebratory way to bring our school year to a close.

A Note from the Year 1 Team:

We want to say a huge thank you to all of our Year 1 children for their hard work, kindness, and enthusiasm this term, and to our parents for your continued support. We have had the most amazing year with the children and are so sad for it to come to an end. We wish the children the best of luck in Year 2 and wish you all a safe, happy, and restful summer holiday!
