What a great time Mrs Hollings, Mrs Thomas and fourteen of our Y6 students had at the Hay Festival this year! We arrived just in time for  Joe Coelho’s poetry session; lots of audience participation made this great fun. Our favourite author was Julian Clary, who humorously told us all about being a writer; the illustrator of his books, David Roberts, brilliantly demonstrated how to draw some characters from the book ‘The Bolds’ a family of hyenas living incognito amongst humans. Cressida Cowell was also very inspiring; she gave lots of great advice on how to be a successful author, and she should know, because her novel series, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, has subsequently become an award-winning franchise adapted for the screen by DreamWorks Animation.
