Nursery Summer A Update

We have had a fantastic Summer A term, filled with exciting experiences, creativity and lots of special moments shared together. It has been wonderful to see the children continue to grow in confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning.

One of the highlights of this half term has been learning all about minibeasts. We began our topic with a fun and engaging Minibeast Immersion Day, which sparked lots of curiosity and excitement. The children have loved exploring ladybirds, spiders and bees through a range of creative activities. We have been making clay spiders, painting beautiful ladybirds using watercolours, creating fact files and making bees using paper plates. The children also enjoyed building houses for minibeasts, going on a spider hunt outdoors and singing and playing with Incy Wincy Spider in the water trays. It has been lovely to see their enthusiasm and growing knowledge about the world around them.

This half term, the children have also been working incredibly hard on their name writing and identifying sounds. We are so proud of the progress they are making and the confidence they are showing during phonics and mark-making activities.

The children were very excited to take part in a football session delivered by Little Kickers. They had great fun practising their football skills, listening carefully to instructions and joining in with lots of energetic games and activities. Another very special event this term was Sports Day, where friends and family joined us to watch Once Upon A Sports Day. The children did an amazing job taking part in the running race, bean bag balancing race and dressing up race. We were so proud of their enthusiasm, determination and teamwork throughout the day.

This term, we also visited Big Bocs Bwyd to buy our snack for the week using 1p coins. The children enjoyed practising their counting and money skills in a real-life context and were very excited to choose the snack items together. We were delighted to welcome families into Nursery for our final Stay and Play session of the year. It was wonderful to share our learning with parents and carers and spend time enjoying activities together. We also had a fantastic School Number Day, where everyone was invited to dress up in something maths related. The children took part in a variety of fun maths activities throughout the day and loved exploring numbers through games and hands-on learning experiences. We also enjoyed celebrating Cultural Celebration Day. The children loved tasting foods from different cultures and dancing to music from around the world. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and learn about different traditions together. On National Bee Day, Nursery was buzzing with excitement as the children came dressed up as bees! We had a wonderful day taking part in lots of bee-themed activities and learning more about the important role bees play in our world. We had a wonderful Colour Day in Nursery, inspired by pupil voice after one of the children suggested having a rainbow day! The children came dressed in colourful outfits and took part in exciting experiments, including the skittle experiment and rainbow bubble experiment. We also enjoyed a full day of rainbow crafts and colourful activities, which brought lots of smiles and creativity to the classroom.

It has been a very busy and enjoyable half term, full of memorable experiences and achievements. We are incredibly proud of all the children and everything they have accomplished.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for more learning and fun in the Summer B term!
