As part of our inquiry question, “What Will Our Future Look Like?”, Year 6 recently enjoyed an exciting and inspiring Careers Morning, where professionals from a wide range of industries visited our school to share their experiences and expertise.
Throughout the morning, pupils had the opportunity to meet and learn from visitors representing a variety of careers, including engineering, construction, plumbing, health and safety, mechanics, semiconductor technology, the police, Forces Fitness and Tesco lorry driving.
Each visitor spoke passionately about their role, explaining the skills, qualifications and personal qualities needed to succeed in their profession. Pupils were fascinated to discover the many different pathways available to them and were encouraged to think about their own aspirations for the future.
The engineering and construction sessions highlighted how creativity, problem-solving and teamwork are essential when designing and building the world around us. Our plumbing and health and safety visitors explained the importance of keeping people safe and ensuring homes, schools and workplaces function effectively.
Pupils were particularly interested in learning about careers in semiconductor technology, discovering how tiny microchips power much of the technology we use every day. The mechanic shared insights into vehicle maintenance and emerging technologies within the car industry, while our police representative discussed the many rewarding roles available within modern policing.
The Forces Fitness session was energetic and engaging, demonstrating the importance of physical fitness, resilience and determination. Meanwhile, our Tesco lorry driver provided a fascinating insight into the logistics industry and explained how goods are transported across the country to keep supermarkets stocked.
Throughout the morning, pupils asked thoughtful questions and demonstrated excellent curiosity and enthusiasm. The event encouraged them to consider the wide range of career opportunities available and helped them understand how the skills they develop in school today can support their future ambitions.
A huge thank you to all our visitors for giving up their time to inspire our learners. Their enthusiasm and expertise helped bring our inquiry question to life and reminded us that the future is full of exciting possibilities.
We look forward to continuing our exploration of future careers and helping our pupils discover the many opportunities that lie ahead.
