Tomorrow’s World – Exploring the Future Together
This term, our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed exploring our exciting theme, Tomorrow’s World, where we have been thinking carefully about the future, new inventions and how we can help to look after our planet. The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm across all areas of learning and have impressed us with their thoughtful ideas and discussions.
As part of our theme work, pupils researched renewable energy and explored how wind, solar and hydro power can help create a cleaner future. They used a variety of websites to investigate sustainable energy sources and discussed the importance of reducing pollution and protecting the environment for future generations. They then put their digital skills to use and created a collaborative website all about renewable energy.
In Literacy and Humanities, the children took part in a discussion considering the question: Should petrol and diesel cars be banned? Pupils shared balanced arguments, using evidence to support their opinions. It was wonderful to hear and read such mature and thoughtful contributions from everyone.
A highlight of the term was our theatre trip to see The Boy at the Back of the Class. The performance brought the story to life beautifully and encouraged important discussions around friendship, kindness and empathy. The children were captivated throughout and represented the school brilliantly during the visit.
We were also delighted to welcome Cook Together Wales into school. Pupils worked collaboratively to prepare delicious Quorn tikka wraps whilst learning about healthy eating, food preparation and sustainable food choices. Many children were eager to recreate the recipe at home afterwards!
To mark Windrush Day, the children created a Windrush video in the Mac Suite. This provided an excellent opportunity to learn more about the experiences and contributions of the Windrush generation and prompted meaningful class discussions about diversity, equality and British history.
For Earth Day, pupils took part in a Scholastic Live session with Judy Wise. The event inspired the children to think carefully about environmental issues and how small changes can make a big difference to our world. They particularly enjoyed sharing their own ideas for protecting the planet.
In Maths, pupils used Moki bands to collect and analyse real-life data linked to physical activity. They interpreted graphs, compared results and applied their mathematical skills in a practical and engaging way. It was fantastic to see the children making strong links between maths and everyday life.
We are incredibly proud of all the hard work, creativity and enthusiasm shown throughout this term. As our journey into “Tomorrow’s World” continues, it’s clear that the future is bright and our pupils are more than ready to embrace it. From budding engineers and scientists to future musicians and designers, every child has shown that preparing for tomorrow starts with learning today. Da iawn everyone!
